Something Happy, Something Old, & Something New

This week has been pretty uneventful & to be honest, we haven't left the house since going to evening church on Sunday! (Can you say stir crazy?!?) But we have been out of the heat and having fun playing with Little A's new toys and soaking in the air conditioning! :-)

Something Happy...
He finally would wear the party hat yesterday when I put it on him! He doesn't want the celebrating to end! :-)

Something Old....
We went on Monday night and fished out this old desk out of my in-laws storage and I'm so excited to re-do it for Fritter to do her school work! It's dirty and dingy now, but I'm thinking of painting it purple b/c it's her favorite color! I'll post after pictures when I get it all done!

Something New...
Since making The Madison Bag, I have been in a bag making mood & figured it would be some fun items to take to the trunk show I'm doing next month. I had fun working with a Heather Bailey Freshcut charm pack to make the outside of the large tote. I still need to add the interfacing and lining, but it looks so fun! I am definitely going to make a few more  of these! Who doesn't need a good & super cute tote bag?!?

Well, off to finish cleaning up lunch & get little ones down for a nap!
Have a great Wednesday!

P.S. My Madison Bag Review has now turned into a GIVEAWAY! Yay! Go here and enter to win a surprise 2 pack of patterns from Two Peas In a Pod Designs! :-)

Sprouts The Madison Bag Review & GIVEAWAY

I am so excited to get the opportunity from Trish to be apart of the Summer Sewing pattern review team!  I picked The Madison Bag pattern, because it is a super cute patchwork style and a great crossbody bag. This bag is not too big, yet not to small. It is perfect for everyday on the go or would also be great on a trip while traveling.

I have only probably made a handful of bags, so I was so happy to see how clear and thorough Trish's instructions were. There are great color step-by-step pictures that are so helpful.
And the actual pattern pieces are on nice quality paper and not tissue type paper. Loved that!
I also loved all the styles and variations you can create with this bag. It is definitely a pattern that lets your mind run free and show off some creativity. With this bag you can show off so many different fabrics and embellishments. I think that is actually what took me the longest time was matching fabrics and deciding what I actually wanted to do! :-)
I finally figured it out!! I chose some Joel Dewberry Heirloom fabrics and threw in a little Sandi Henderson Secret Garden that coordinated! :-)
All cut out and ready to go!

Once you get everything cut out, it actually doesn't take too long to make the actual bag. I worked in increments, so I don't know the exact time, but I would say probably 2-2.5 hours start to finish. So give yourself an evening or while the children are taking a GOOD nap & you could have yourself a new fancy bag! :-)

To be honest, I can't say one negative thing about this pattern. I made the whole thing with no mistakes and I think that is all because Trish does such a great job explaining every part.
I'm so in LOVE with how it turned out & I've already started matching fabrics to make more! :-)
Here's the back view.

So, if you're looking for a pattern to make yourself a fun bag this Summer, I recommend The Madison Bag pattern from Two Peas in a Pod Designs! You will love it too, I just know it!

As an added bonus, Trish is offering one of my readers a surprise 2 pack of 2 of her patterns! What a great prize!

Have a great Monday!

Happy 1st Birthday, Baby Boy!!

When I found out I was having a baby boy, I have to admit I was a little "freaked out", because I wasn't sure I knew how to be a "boy mom." I was completely wrong....This first year he has stolen my heart & I have had the sweetest time falling in love with my baby boy and watching him grow. Happy Birthday, Abram! I enjoyed celebrating you today! :-)
My sweet 1 year old boy

I did a number one theme with dark blue, baby blue and red. We just kept it easy with cupcakes and ice cream.
Here is the table set-up for the cupcakes
I decorated the mantle with pictures of Abram from newborn to recent. It was so fun to see how much he has grown and changed.
My parents got him an Anywhere Chair and he felt so big sitting in it. He loved it!

Singing Happy Birthday & "blowing" out the candle! I was so scared he was going to cry during the song, but he was so happy & just smiled at everybody! :-)
 He LOVES cupcakes!
He got lots of sweet presents from family and friends....
 Like clothes....
And fun toys too! :-)

We had such a fun day celebrating and I really can't believe my baby boy is one. It definitely goes by faster with the second. We go to his one year check up this week so I don't know his stats, but he is talking so much more and doing new things everyday. He now says: bye-bye, Hey..., yea, da-da, ma-ma, and uh-oh.

Now, I'm off to put new toys away and head to bed.

Be sure to enter the HappyBaby Snack pack giveaway I'm hosting & come back Monday when I show off a fun bag I made and review the pattern! :-)

Have a great weekend!

Someone has a birthday this week......
and I just can't believe it!

So, this week is busy planning his first birthday party! It makes me laugh though, because I start out so energetic with so many ideas, start a Pinterest board, write down all the fun and creative things I want to do & now it is the week of the party & I haven't done a thing! HA! Anyone else do that?

So....it looks like I'll have some long evenings doing some birthday crafts and decorations. I'm sure my sweet little man will love them! :-)

What are your best party planning tips?
(Maybe the first one should be don't procrastinate..ha!)

Homemade Sugar Face Scrub

Today I wanted to share a recipe for a Homemade Sugar Face Scrub. I am always looking for ways to cut costs and use things that have all natural ingredients and this Sugar Scrub is the BEST!

Who doesn't love a daily facial, right? :-)

Sugar Facial Scrub Recipe
1.5 tbs Milk
About 1 cup of white sugar
3/4 tsp olive oil
1/2 tbs honey

Mix all ingredients until it is not runny. (More sugar may be needed) Apply to damp face, in a circular motion. Wash off with warm water, then cold water. Pat dry. Do not heat & store in refrigerator.
Original recipe found here
I use it usually at night before I go to bed and my face is always so soft afterwards. I'm sure you could use it twice a day & you could use it as a body scrub too. Just double the recipe for more! Don't worry about it getting in your mouth either...It's a sweet treat! HA!
These would be great gift ideas too! Just put it in a cute jar with a ribbon & there you go! :-)

Let me know if you give it a try & how you like it! Have you ever made any homemade beauty products?

Have a great Wednesday!

Houston Weekend Trip

We had such a fun time this weekend going down to Houston to visit my sister, brother-in-law, and cutie nephew. It was my first trip down alone with both kids and it was quite an adventure with lots of "are we there yet?" and fussing because little man did not like being in his carseat for that long, but we made it and had a great time!!

We took the kids to Chicfila & the neighborhood pool on Friday. It was nice to soak up some sun and play with the kids.
Fritter & Nic-Nic :-)
Little A liked Chic Fil-a nuggets too! (sorry, for the crazy Iphone pic hand!)
Little A swimming with Aunt Linds
Fritter showing off her "cool watergun"
With my little splasher :-)

Saturday morning we woke up & went to High Fashion Fabric in downtown Houston (LOVED IT!!), ate at Red Robin & then went to Ikea!

I have always wanted to go & had a little fun grabbing things and putting them in my big yellow bag! Ha! It was so fun!

There were a ton of people there and with 3 kids in tow, it got a little crazy, but we made it through and got some fun purchases! :-)

I got a few things to make some crafts with so I can't wait to show them off when I get them done!

Well, off to unpack!

What did you do fun this weekend??

Lazy Sewing Day

Today was one of those days that we stayed in our pajamas all day long (you know you do it too!) & just stayed around the house....Not much going on...

I did work on sewing up some bloomers for my good friend's little girl this morning. They are so little & cute! I used the Jocole Bloomer pattern & it is really fast & simple!

I had this sweet boy crawling around my feet too! He is crawling faster and getting into things so much quicker now! His personal favs right now are beating on my tin button box and pulling scraps out of my scrap drawer....At least it's safe & keeps him busy! ;-)
See the fabric on the table?

Well after everyone was quietly taking a nap, I created this:
I love it & want an adult size! I have had both of these fabrics in my stash for awhile, and they paired nicely, so I was so happy to use them. I listed it in my shop here: Sweet Jasmine Dress

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July!

Party, Party, Party

What a busy weekend full of parties that we have had around here!

Friday night, I hosted my 2nd Pinterest party and it was so much fun! I had about 8 friends come over and bring a Pinterest recipe and their supplies to make a craft and it was such a fun night! I was having so much fun and busy hosting that I forgot to take a single picture! Ahh!! Some of the girls worked on wreaths, others on fabric flowers, another on a fun gift, and a Mason jar vase holder. It was so exciting to see their creativity! I can't wait until the next one in the Fall! (& I promise to take pictures! :-))

Yesterday, we had 2 birthday parties! One in the morning at the park & then another at Chuck E Cheese in the evening.

I was balancing both kids by myself at the park party, so I didn't get any pictures! I need to do better! Ahh! Emmalyne has been our friend since birth, so we were so excited to celebrate her 5 year old birthday!

Fritter received an invitation to a Chuck E Cheese party from a little boy that was in her preschool class back in the school year. She has never been to Chuck E Cheese, so she was so excited to go. It was so cute when we got there, because they were just so thankful that Fritter came. They said their the little boy talks about her all the time. It was mainly family and cousins there and everyone knew who Fritter was. It was sweet.

Abram loved joining in the festivites too....well mainly, just the pizza part of it! This child is my bottomless pit when it comes to eating! Ha!

When Chuck E Cheese came out to dance, some children ran away crying or screaming in fear...Nope, not my child. She was the first one up there dancing (or attacking!) with Chuck E Cheese. It was hilarious!

Well, everyone probably about to wake up from their naps...I'm working on a fun purse pattern that I can't wait to show off, so I better go enjoy a few more quiet moments while I can! :-)

Happy Sunday!
