Naptime Creation

So, my hubby came in a few weeks ago with a big gallon bucket of Cookies & Cream ice cream and I laughed at the tub, "Oh my...that's a lot of ice cream!" Well now my waistline thanks him (HA!) and so does Fritter for her new nifty treak or treat bucket! :)

I saw this tutorial and yesterday during naptime created this:

I think she loves it...and I do too! :)

Simply Aprons Giveaway!

Well it's Monday again, so that means it's time to showcase another new Etsy store! I am so glad I have gotten to know Betty at Simply Aprons! She is the sweetest lady & makes some of the nicest aprons. I know so many times when I'm cooking or doing dishes in the kitchen, I look down to see my shirt all wet or a stain on it! Aprons come in handy to make that little problem not happen! Simply Aprons has so many cute designs, you won't feel frumpy wearing one either!!

Here is what Betty says about Simply Aprons:

"Simply Aprons, my little cottage industry, began after finding an old butcher's apron. I used it as a pattern to make an apron for my daughter out of window treatment remnants.
Her friend loved the apron and ordered seven, my sister-in-law ordered three and a friend wanted four.

After receiving wonderful advice, not to mention orders, from family and friends I began selling on Etsy, the webs most vibrant handmade marketplace.

Simply Aprons is growing slowly, one apron at a time, but having fun along the way.

Please wear your apron in good health."

So help Betty's store grow rapidly & stock up on some of the cutest aprons around! Remember...Christmas is only 2 months away!! :)

Speaking of Christmas, Simply Aprons has many Christmas style aprons:
Christmas Future apron

God's Response

So yesterday I wrote about how tired I was after taking care of a sick baby and before I went to bed last night I read a little bit of the book, Womanly Dominion, by Mark Chanski and the author gave me some great encouragement from the Lord in one small passage in the book. I just had to share!
"But what is it that keeps a dedicated mother running day and night, year after year, even decade after decade? Inspirational historical models may provide a temporary enthusiasm, but a mother of dominion needs something more. Otherwise, the grueling day and night demands of crying infants, filthy bottoms, vomit-soaked blankets, strong-willed naughtiness, physical exhaustion, heart-rendering grief, dull routine, deferred gratification, lack of recognition, cultural criticism, and person disillusionment will bring the work of her hands (Proverbs 3:13, 19,20,31) to a grinding halt.

There she sits exhausted on the edge of the bed, her face in her hands, wondering, "Where's the glory in all this?"

She needs something more empowering to keep her going.

She needs to gain and maintain the deep conviction of the glory, honor, and nobility of selfless service. This she fnd at the foot of the cross, looking up to One who earned for Himself "the name which is above every name" (Philippians 2:9), by "emptying Himself, taking the form of a bond servant" (2:7), humbling "Himself by becoming obedient to the pint of death, even death on a cross" (2:8). There she beholds her Savior who mopped up the damning vomit of her own sin with the precious sponge of His perfect life and atoning death. The love of Christ constrains and compels her to press on (2 Corinthians 5: 14). The Spirit of Christ empowers her."

The Lord knew exactly what I needed to hear last night and as I laid my head down to go to sleep I felt encouraged and I hope this encourage you to today!

Have a great weekend! GEAUX TIGERS! :)

P.S. Don't forget to sign up for this giveaway below! I'll tell the winner on Monday! :)

Yucky day

Well today was a tiring day! Poor Fritter had her first stomach virus last night and it was oh, so sad! She was pitiful and I felt so bad for her! She got sick right when we got home from church and this is the first time for her to get stomach sick, so I felt so sorry for her! She was such a trooper though and got lots of good snuggles through the night. She was finally able to keep Pedialyte after 5 this morning and has been happy ever since. I'm thinking the worst is behind us! :)
I'm so happy she will be ok too, because we have a big trip planned to go to the LSU/Auburn game this weekend! I'm so excited!! I haven't been to a game in over 3 years, and it will be so fun too b/c I'm going with my best friend Michelle & her family (my hubby's boss! :)) We are leaving Anna with my parent's and this will be our first trip away from her and only the 2nd time for her to stay the night away from us....and she 18 months! I think we are past due for a little weekend getaway and as much as I'm going to miss her, I'm excited to get a mini-vacation!

Well, better get back to packing! Be sure to enter the Beez Kneez Designs giveaway! I've extended the deadline until Sunday (10/25) night, so hurry & get the entries in! :)

Have a great weekend!

Food for Friends

"Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." ~2 Corinthians 9:7

This was the memory verse for my church's Sunday School a few weeks ago and it is really one of my favorite verses I like to think about and try to keep in the forefront of my mind. I want to be not only a giver, but a cheerful giver!
I have had 2 of my good friends have sweet babies within the last 2 weeks and I have been so blessed to serve them and take them dinners. I remember after having a c-section we had meals for almost 3 weeks from our loving church family and it was such a blessing! I think it is a great ministry to be apart of!

Tonight I made our friends Taco Soup and baked them a fun Halloween cake! I had never made Taco soup before but my sister sent me a great recipe that I want to share! So in my best Paula Deen voice (hehe!), here is the recipe for Taco Soup:

Ingredients:
1 pound ground turkey or lean ground beef
1 onion -- chopped
1 pkg Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
1 pkg Taco Bell taco seasoning mix
1 can white or plain kidney beans -- (16 ounce)
1 can ranch style beans -- (16 ounce)
1 can corn -- (16 ounce)
1 can Rotel -- (16 ounce)
1 can diced tomatoes -- (16 ounce)

Brown meat with onion, drain excess fat, add all ingredients, simmer to blend flavors. If you like it soupy, add a can & a half of water.
Serve with Fritos and shredded cheddar cheese
YUMMY!!

I then made a Duncan Hines Halloween cake! I found this at Walmart today & thought it would be fun! Just follow the instructions on the box & you get 2 bowls of batter like this:
Then you put the orange in and then spoon the chocolate down the center and take a knife to give it a swirl:
Then ice & decorate!!
My friend named her baby girl Haven (so sweet), so I figured with some of the candy corn I bought today to put her initials on the cake..LOL..My first attempt at cake decorating. :)

So, if you have any friends that have recently had a baby, had surgery, lost a family member, etc. I encourage you to give of your time, money, and cooking skills to bless someone with a great dinner! :)

Well have a great evening & a great weekend!

~Stacy

A Gift from God

I have had such a joyous day today! One of my best friends had a precious baby boy today! Her hubby is actually my pastor and my hubby's best friend! :) We just love them! They named their sweet baby Connor Andrew and I just think it is perfect. She has endured so much through the last few years going through multiple miscarriages and now the Lord has so faithfully answered her prayers with this beautiful baby boy! I was just rejoicing all morning and was so happy I was able to be apart of his birthday! His big brother was excited too and is going to be such a great brother! :) Oh, I just love babies!

Well off to prayer meeting, but I have a fun surprise later on tonight to post about so, be sure to check back! :)

O-tay!

Me: "Wanna watch Elmo, Anna?"

Anna: "O-tay!"

Ugh...My heart just melted! I love the little joys in life! :)

Today was such a rainy day!! I did have a productive day though! I made Anna a new apron dress from the Leila & Ben pattern! It turned out so cute & I loved making something new successfully!
You can layer them over a solid shirt and jeans or leggings for the Fall! I can't wait to model it on her soon and post pics!

I also made her a little owl simple skirt this weekend too! This fabric was so fun to me & perfect for the Fall! I'm enjoying getting back to my machine and creating fun little outfits for my little Fritter! :)

Well that's about all going on with us on this rainy Tuesday! I have a super FUN surprise coming up for my blog on Monday, so you'll all have to keep checking back to find out what it is!! :)

Fun news!

This morning I got a fun and exciting email from an intern at NewParent.com and she said she found my shop Gracious Creations and would love to feature a few of my items on their shopping section of their website. I was so excited! I was honored, especially to know that it wasn't something that I sought out, but they found me! :) I remember seeing New Parent magazines at the OB office and so I immediately knew what it was when she wrote me. So if you haven't ever heard of New Parent magazine you should check it out!

Yay! :)

Well off to bed, hoping to hit up some local church
rummage sales in the morning...
Hoping for no rain and some fun finds!

Pumpkin Patch Day

Today we headed to the Pumpkin Patch with our friends and we had such a great time! Besides the heat (ugh...Louisiana weather!), Anna loved going around and picking up and pointing at all the different pumpkins. I tried to get different pictures of her, but she is not in the sitting still age, so most are action shot! LOL

Picking out the perfect pumpkin.....
Such a big girl in all the pumpkins! :)
I'll take this one, Mom!
I love this sweet picture! She just went and took a seat without me telling her...She wanted to take a little rest...lol
Smiling with Momma...
I went back and found the picture from last year....My little baby is growing up! She is a walking, talking, pumpkin picker-up, sweet to the core, full-fledge toddler now!

This is such a fun tradition I hope to continue for many years. What are some other Fall fun traditions you do with your family? I would love to hear! :)

Well, my sweet "pumpkin" is still napping, so I better go get a few more things done! :)

Have a great day!

Pumpkin Bread

When I think about Fall, one of the first things that pops in my mind is my Granny's Pumpkin Bread. Every year that we would go Little Rock for Thanksgiving she would have a fresh loaf baked and then another loaf wrapped up real tight in foil for us to take home. We loved it so growing up. I unfortunately don't have her recipe for it yet, and I hope to get it soon when we start to go through my grandmother's recipe books. I did last year, however, find a recipe for Pumpkin Bread that tasted wonderful and wanted to share!! :)

Pumpkin Bread
Ingredients:
3 cups Sugar
1 cup Vegetable Oil
3 large Eggs
1- 16oz can of Pumpkin
3 cups of Flour
1 tsp. Ground Cloves
1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
1 tsp. Ground Nutmeg
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 Cup of Walnuts or Raisins (optional)

Make it:
-Preheat oven to 350. Butter and flour two 9x5x3 loaf pans.
-Beat sugar, oil, and pumpkin in large bowl to blend.
-Sift flour, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, salt, & baking powder into another large bowl.
-Stir into pumpkin mixture in 2 additions. Mix in walnuts or raisins, if desired.
-Divide batter equally between prepared pans.
-Bake until tester inserted into middle comes out clean, about 1 hour 10 mins.
-Use sharp knife, cut around edges of loaves. Turn loaves out onto cooling racks and let cool completely.

Voila! Now go light your pumpkin candle, get that oven hot, & enjoy some yummy pumpkin bread! :)

Have a great Fall day!

Happy Fall!

Yesterday felt great outside, so Fritter and I enjoyed a nice time enjoying the weather out on the deck. She loved being outside in the pretty weather and enjoyed walking around and picking up rocks and acorns. We played a game of acorn throwing too that she thought was alot of fun! :)

Peeking out from the deck...
Chasing Rascal... lol
Picking up rocks & acorns...
Peeking up at the "Tree Man"
LOL...My husband got a tree man as a gift last Christmas and Anna always sees him and talks about him, but when I went to take her up close to the tree, she put on the death grip and kept saying, "NO, No, No!" It was funny and cute! :) She was definitely not a fan...LOL

I love Fall and I can't wait to get out and start some stroller walks soon. I hope everyone is enjoying these beautiful Fall days too! :)
